La
Colle is near to the town of Forcalquier,
as you can see from the map below we are
just on the edge of the Luberon and the
Vaucluse. Peter Mayle wrote his famous
book "A year in Provence" in a
small village call Ménerbes which is
just next to Apt and is about 30 mins.

The Luberon and
the Vaucluse are far better known
throughout the world as a result of
writers like Peter Mayle and the area is
well inhabited by Artists, Actors and
Actresses, Politicians and the like who
also helped to publicise the area.
The 04 which is
the short term for Alpes de haute
Provence received it's own group of
Artists and cultural talent as far back
as the late 60's mainly as a rebuttal to
the commercialisation of the coast as
"Provence" extends from the
coast up and to the edge of the Alps.
